Madhya Institute of Medical science has drawn public ire after medicines worth crores of Rupees were found to have expired. According to unofficial sources, the medicines will be disposed of however, the medicines were meant to be distributed instead of being stored. As per the Governmental rules, if a medicine is not distributed due to non-requirement, it must be sent to other hospitals where they are needed.

A Doctor stated that if a particular medicine is supposed to get expired soon, the authorities must take necessary steps to send them to other hospitals where they are needed. This can be only possible in any of the government hospitals if a timely Audit of the remaining stocks of medicine is properly done. This primary duty of the Government hospital i.e., stock Audit should be followed by a notification to higher authorities about the Expiry date.

A Social worker stated that MIMS Authorities have not conducted any audit for medical stocks in the last 10 years. The social worker also added that the medicinal supplies by the government could have been properly utilized had the doctor not forced the patient to buy them outside.
